Interesting plate made in Ciclamino, a rose amethyst color that was used in the 1930s-1940s and after WW2 replaced by purple Amethyst. The color was used often by Zecchin and Salviati. Also Pauly.
The decoration is on the back of the plate leaving a deep center. Beautiful work.
It has many features that appears in the Zecchin style, the greca merletto decoration which can be found on his Soffiato bowl, model 1909 CV / 5323 MVM that was shown at the San Giorgio Zecchin show.
The Greca key is made with two separate rim morise pinced to create an infinitive 8 numbers. The merletto instead uses a spiral.
What does not make it a Zecchin piece is the thickness of the glass and the grinding of the punty detachement which came later in the 1960-1970. This might lead to a later Salviati piece.
I am listing it “in the style of” for the time being. I’m also assigning a safer 1970s manufacturing decade.
