Great piece from the end of the 1930s. Reticello technique.
Aluminium hardware (see below on references the meaning of this).
A collector’s item and rare to find. Beautiful play with the light, lit and unlit.
Base reads and other identifications, references: There are several noticeable finds in this piece. First, the filigrana shows a dense lattimo and not a smalto filigrana, which came later on the 1960s. The reticello doesn’t show the mid bubble and there is no coating in glass. All this indicates an earlier piece, probably from the original period of the blue catalogue. What captivated my attention is the use of aluminium for the hardware. This sort of dates the piece around 1937, 1938 when the lack of copper due to the sanctions against Italy reduced the use of brass, and not later when aluminium production was then absorbed for military use.
