This is the tall vase part of the Athena group, made as a table torchere. The green coloration is made with “mace”, rolling the melted glass over frit or glass crumble. The finish is scavo with typical iridescence that identifies Sergio Rossi production.
Base and other identifications and references: No label, no signature. The collection was made in the late ’80s, in answer to Seguso’s Etruscan collection. Used for the movie set in 1997 movie Flubber. Joe Montana bought the collection in the 80s.
Evaluation assessment: Based on the difficulty of execution, finesse and uniqueness of product. There is a growing attention to the scavo pieces from the ’80s.
