A beautiful chandelier from Fontana Arte. The decoration has hibiscus flowers and it’s hand chiselled not etched. The disc covering the bulbs is etched on the background but even here the details are hand chiseled. Hardware is in very good condition. I recommend to see photos. It has three candelabra sockets. Once lit the design in the larger glass receives indirect light and highlight the decoration.
An historical deco piece, made by one of the greatest Italian deco designer, for a fine living room or conversation area.
The design is made by two curved glass. The upper one is etched over the bulbs and clear with chiselled hibiscus motif. The lower part is made with a smaller dish with same motif and etched background. The two glass, with a brass rim, pockets three candelabra bulbs.
Identifications and references: This chandelier is from Fontana Arte. The period is that of Pietro Chiesa direction 1933-1948 right after Gio Ponti direction. The finesse of the chiselling indicates an earlier period so I am assigning it to circa 1935. There is something on the chiselling style that recalls Gio Ponti.

MATERIALS AND TECHNIQUES
Good. This chandelier has E14 original sockets from the 30s. To maintain the integrity if the piece I suggest to use E12 adaptor for th US market. I suggest to consider LED bulbs to get more light output and less heat. 30s bulbs had low watts..
