This is an unique version of the cubosfera designed by Alessandro Mendini in 1968 for Fidenza Vetraria. A beautiful chandelier that I was not aware to be part of this iconic collection.
The metal structure is made in brushed aluminum with horizontal ventilation slots. There are also bands of shiny chromed iron. Top shows a press metal piece. The five glass shades are of solid glass with bubble inside creating a convex lens that diffuses the light. Uses five bulbs E26/E27, 40W.
An historic chandelier from the late 1960s from Alessandro Mendini for a collectors house or a prestigious mansion.
Measures listed are for the chandelier body. Overall drop is 85 cms 34in. Glass cubes are 8cm 3in 1/4 each side.
