This is a great example of Afro’s creativity. The piece is black overall, with great cold shop working. The outline is worked in the battuto technique, while the central areas are nastrato. The focal point are the murrinas, made using the typical avventurina copper color and the blue avventurina. Stylish, clean lines.
Base reads and other identifications, references: Signed by the artist. Rated 5 star. For the decade I assume this was made in polychromy times so I am safely indicating 2000/2009 but it could possibly be an earlier piece.
Evaluation assessment: Based on the difficulty of execution and uniqueness of product. Although several of Afro’s pieces are available for evaluation, this piece stands on its own and it is unique.
